IT'S RECORDER TIME!

Dear 5^th Grade Students and Parents:

For many years now, Lakewood 5^th Grade students have been given a GREAT opportunity- the chance to learn to play a musical instrument. As in years past, we will be teaching EVERY 5^th GRADE STUDENT to play the recorder. There are many benefits to studying a musical instrument, and we want an opportunity to show your child that he or she is capable of reading music and playing an instrument.

The recorder program will begin Tuesday, September 2^nd (after Labor Day) and will take place during music class time as part of the regular school day. Participation in this class is required.

If you'd prefer to borrow a school-owned recorder and book, we do have a moderate number of them available. They would simply need to be returned at the end of recorder classes in October. While our school-owned recorders are cleaned and sanitized before they are distributed, I encourage you to check the instruments and clean them with mild soap and warm (not hot) water to your satisfaction. If you would prefer to purchase a new recorder and book of your own, make checks payable to LAKEWOOD BAND BOOSTERS.
